CREAT's first-class services to help Ali's network power construction in Tibet

Date:2021-01-05

In December, the State Grid announced that the 4th "Power Sky Road" in the Snowy Plateau-Ali (an area in Tibet) Power Interconnection Project was officially put into operation! The commissioning of the project completely ended the history of long-term isolated grid operation of Ali Grid and the long-term lack of power in the Ali area. It also marked that the last prefecture-level administrative region of the country's land area was officially connected to the national power grid, and the national unified power grid was formed.

With the smooth commissioning of the Ali Power Interconnection Project, Beijing CREAT participated in and witnessed the construction of this "power road". As of December 28, the switchgears of the eight 110KVs substation Projects that Beijing CREAT had won the bids in Qamdo Tongka, Bitu, Yanjing, Nagqu Xiaguan, Shenya, Ngari Cuoqin, Gaize, and Daxiong in the "Three Districts and Three States" in Tibet have all put into operation.

Most of Tibet’s “three districts and three prefectures” power grid construction projects are located in remote and difficult areas, and most of the regions have harsh climate conditions. This is the greatest difficulty of the nation’s “three districts and three prefectures” power grid construction. Among them, the Ali Networking Project is the ultra-high voltage transmission and transformation project with the highest altitude and the longest distance in the world so far.

The project has an average altitude of 4,500 meters and a highest altitude of 5,357 meters. It is the most challenging power grid project in the world. It crossed the Yarlung Zangbo River three times and crossed the Kongtanglam Mountains and Mayumula Mountains which are 5,300 meters above sea level. The harsh climate and living environment along the route, high cold and lack of oxygen, extreme temperature difference between day and night, heavy wind and sand, inconvenient transportation make the construction extremely difficult. Construction workers are at risk of causing high altitude diseases such as pulmonary edema and cerebral edema at any time.

Since September 2019, Beijing CREAT technical service team has carefully selected 7 technical service engineers (Zhou Shangfu, Wei Fushuang, Li Baoren, Shi Jun, Xiong Delei, Tuo Yangling, Wei Shaokai) with good physical fitness and strong business capabilities to assist Tibet project. In the past two years, they took turns in the front line of construction to help the construction of 110kv substations in Tibetan areas.

The successful commissioning of the eight substations is not easy. They have put in extraordinary perseverance and hard work to deliver the large grid power as soon as possible. During the construction of these 8 stations, our technical service personnel are constantly working. At every construction site, they eat the dry food they carry with them when they are hungry, rub their hands and cover their faces when they are cold, and suspend heavy physical work in their hands when they are dizzy and have difficulty breathing, breathe in the oxygen they carry with them, and wait for the body to recover slightly. Then continue with the installation.

China Power Construction Group Qinghai Electric Power Design Institute Engineering Co., Ltd. sent a letter of commendation to Beijing CREAT for successfully completing the installation and transmission of Ali's 110kv substation equipment. The letter gives high praise to the CREAT staff’s good spirit of hard working, consciousness, daring to take responsibility in the face of difficulties. Their excellent work reflects the first-class service level of Beijing CREAT.
